We Finally Got Yum Yum Dog Food!

By Gerard de Sagun

Feeding five rescued dogs isn’t always easy, but today, we’re celebrating a small win because we finally got our hands on Yum Yum Dog Food… and we got it straight from the supplier! Why does that matter? Two big reasons: costs go down, and nutrition goes up.

These five sweet souls were abandoned, in some way or another, and each of them found their way to us with their own backstories. So when we discovered Yum Yum’s Adult formula (designed for dogs 12 months and up), it felt like we found an amazing deal.

It’s packed with:

  • Flavor Peptides & B-Complex Vitamin: These bioactive compounds enhance the palatability of meals, stimulating appetite in picky or nutritionally sensitive dogs. The B-vitamin group (including B1, B6, B12, niacin, and folic acid) plays a vital role in metabolism, nervous system function, and energy production, especially important for rescued dogs recovering from stress or malnutrition. Source: National Research Council – Nutrient Requirements of Dogs and Cats (2006)

  • Omega-3 DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid): DHA is a long-chain omega-3 fatty acid crucial for brain function and mood regulation. In dogs, it’s been shown to improve cognitive performance, aid in training responsiveness, and reduce inflammatory joint pain—ideal for senior or arthritic pets. Source: Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association (JAVMA), 2009

  • Omega-6 Fatty Acids (Linoleic Acid): These essential fats support immune function, skin cell integrity, and coat shine. A proper Omega-6 to Omega-3 ratio is critical to reducing chronic inflammation and keeping your dog’s skin healthy and itch-free. Source: Small Animal Clinical Nutrition, 5th Edition

  • ProbioticsLive beneficial bacteria like Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium strains help maintain healthy gut flora. This promotes better digestion, reduces gas, improves stool consistency, and strengthens the immune response by supporting the gut microbiome. Source: Frontiers in Veterinary Science, 2020

  • Yucca Schidigera Extract: This desert plant extract binds ammonia in the intestines, reducing the smell of waste by lowering hydrogen sulfide production. It also contains natural saponins that may aid in anti-inflammatory support and nutrient absorption. Source: Journal of Animal Science, 2001

By buying directly, we’re not only able to stretch our budget a little further—we’re making sure our dogs get exactly what they need, consistently. Through direct sourcing, we can ensure every bag contains the same science-backed ingredients our dogs thrive on. For five adopted pups with unique needs, that kind of nutritional reliability is a game-changer.

A huge thank-you to Cris Paul Munar, the amazing Pet Line Consultant from Pagrang-Ayan Agri Ventures, for helping us get the right food for our pack. Your guidance and care made all the difference—our dogs are already loving every bite. As someone who lovingly cares for 13 cats of his own, he understands that every peso counts, with quality being uncompromised. As a cat lover himself, he didn’t simply recommend a product; he empathized with our situation.

So, if you’re caring for dogs—especially rescues or multiple pups—consider buying directly from trusted suppliers. It’s more affordable, more reliable, and it means you can stay in control of the quality of what you’re feeding your pets.
